It’s hard to be bad at something. Actually I’ll rephrase that. It’s hard to be bad at something that you want to be good at. I don’t lose sleep over not being good at the high jump because I don’t care to be good at the high jump.

But I do find it hard to sleep sometimes when thinking about the guitar and just how bad I am at it. About how incredible it would be if I could play the way the greats do. There are days when I am convinced that literally every problem of note in my life would disappear overnight if I became excellent at playing the guitar.

I know this is not true. I will still have problems no matter how good I get at the guitar. But I get one shot at having problems here so might as well know how to play the guitar while dealing with them.

So here’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to play the guitar like John Mayer. It should be easy. John Mayer plays the guitar everyday. So will I.
